MyCare Ohio
MyCare Ohio is Ohio's managed care program for adults age 21 or older who have both Medicare and Medicaid. A MyCare plan can cover both sets of benefits, or Medicaid benefits only. The Ohio Department of Medicaid runs the program. It is moving to a model called Next Generation MyCare Ohio.
Why it matters for your family
MyCare can include long-term services, such as in-home help, with a care manager to coordinate care. Ohio Medicaid has said the original demonstration would convert to Next Generation MyCare, which uses plans that fully combine Medicare and Medicaid. Plan names and counties may change. A common mistake is to assume plan names and benefits stay the same from year to year. They can change. Check the Ohio Department of Medicaid site for the current plans and counties, and call the plan before changing any care. Members should keep their Medicare and Medicaid cards and ask the plan about any change in coverage.
